Eleven more sleeps to Future Music Festival Asia 2015 (FMFA15), and if you’re heading down to the Changi Exhibition Centre for Southeast Asia’s largest music festival, here’s what you need to know (and do).

YOUR WRISTBAND IS ALSO YOUR WALLET:

After going through security, you will be tagged with a RFID wristband. Besides controlling access, your wristbands can also be topped up with cash and used to purchase drinks at the bar. Don’t have cash on you? Don’t worry you can also top up wristband credits using your credit card. This essentially reduces waiting time in queues to purchase your drinks. Simply place your order, tap your wristband against the reader, and you’re done. Wristbands can be topped up at various Top-Up Stations around the festival site. But for greater convenience, you can also pre top-up your wristbands today even before the festival begins via http://topup.gorillatix.asia. Pre top-ups are only available from now till 9 March 2015.

*If you are a Weekend (2-day) Pass holder, you will only be tagged with one wristband on Day 1 and you will have to keep the same wristband on for Day 2.

Avicii, The Prodigy, Afrojack, Fatboy Slim and Knife Party tops the bill alongside a host of other big names for Southeast Asia’s largest music festival, Future Music Festival Asia 2015 which will be held at the Changi Exhibition Centre in Singapore from 13 – 14 March 2015

SINGAPORE: The organizers of Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA), The Livescape Group and Future Music Australia today announced its biggest line-up yet for next year’s massive festival. The festival will take over the 140,000 square-meter Changi Exhibition Centre in Singapore from 13 – 14 March 2015 with an estimated 50,000 fans expected to converge over the two-days.

Slated to be Southeast Asia’s largest music festival ever, the organisers take cue from the success Future Music Festival Asia has obtained over the past three years and promises more punch and a cosmic show that will seal FMFA’s position as the region’s premier music festival.

Over 50,000 revellers are expected to attend the festival over two days next year of which, organisers are expecting an influx of over 10,000 music tourists to specifically make their way into Singapore for FMFA. According to the organisers, the festival has plans to stay in Singapore for the long term and has set itself a target to become Asia’s largest music festival within the next three years while targeting a 20 per cent year-on-year growth in its number of foreign attendees. In the past three years where FMFA has been held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the festival has played a significant role in driving music tourists into the country by attracting over 30,000 foreign fans from across 85 countries and generating over RM120 million (SGD46 million) in tourist dollars. Singaporeans, Indonesians, Thais, Australians and Europeans formed a majority of the festival’s tourists with the brand also having a significant following in the other parts of the world.

Brett Robinson, the Director of Future Music Australia said, “I believe we have got a phenomenal line-up and I don’t think Southeast Asia, let alone Singapore has ever witnessed a gathering of musical talents in a single event of this proportion and scale. So to the fans, I urge you to please get your tickets early. We’re expecting a sold-out show and we really don’t want to have to disappoint you because I promise you, next year, Future Music Festival Asia 2015 will be the biggest music event to happen in this part of the region”.

“It has been our vision to bring to music punters in this region a massive music experience that resonates long after the festival is over. This is our first steps in making that vision a reality by presenting our biggest line-up to date. From the US to Indonesia to Singapore, music lovers are crossing out their calendars for the coming festival and we can only get better from here on. This will be the largest music festival in Southeast Asia and we guarantee it will be a mind-blowing two-day event”, Brett added.

In terms of the entertainment value of the festival, the organisers are promising an event to remember. “If you look at our last three years, we have always spared no expense in ensuring top notch entertainment value for the fans. We understand how important it is to ensure that they get more than what they pay for. After all, FMFA wouldn’t be where it is today without our amazing fans. So we know we have got an expectation to live up to”, Iqbal Ameer, Group Chief Executive Officer of The Livescape Group says.

“For 2015, FMFA is quite simply going to be our biggest yet with multiple mega stages, world-class sound, lights and stage production and huge star power. Today’s announcement is just the tip of the iceberg, and fans can expect even more big Pop, Hip Hop and EDM names when we announce our full line-up in January. So in true Livescape fashion, expect some pleasant surprises. We’re expecting to unveil a total of over 50 international and regional acts on our bill. In addition, with Changi Exhibition Centre as our new home, we are confident that we will be able to curate the biggest music playground this region has ever seen”, Iqbal added.

The Changi Exhibition Centre (CEC) sits on a sprawling 30-hectare site along Singapore’s eastern coastline complete with sea views. With a combined indoor and outdoor area equivalent to 14 soccer fields, CEC is a well-equipped venue ideal for a music festival the size of Future Music Festival Asia.

“We are delighted that the Changi Exhibition Centre has been chosen to host Southeast Asia’s largest music festival, Future Music Festival Asia. It is the ideal location for what will be the biggest gathering of music superstars and music fans from Singapore, across Southeast Asia and beyond. With its expansive space and breath-taking seafront location, festival-goers are in for a truly enjoyable and unforgettable experience as we are sure that The Livescape Group and Future Music Australia will be transforming CEC into an impressive magical music playground,” said Mr Leck Chet Lam, Managing Director of Experia Events, which owns and manages the Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore.

Unlike other festivals in the region, FMFA also maintains its position as a cross-genre music festival with its past editions having featured not just Electronic Dance Music (EDM) acts but also some of the biggest names in Pop, Hip Hop, Indie and Rock. The organisers are expecting to announce its full line-up in January 2015.

Future Music Festival Asia, which thrilled crowds of over 55,000 in March this year, has been dubbed as the largest music festival to ever hit Southeast Asian shores. It is an internationally acclaimed and award winning festival that originates from Australia. Future Music Festival Asia in Singapore will take place from 13 – 14 March 2015 at the Changi Exhibition Centre and is organised by The Livescape Group and Future Music Australia.

Coming from the “jungles” of Australia to Kuala Lumpur, Future Music festival, the foremost electronic extravaganza to hit this city. Paired together with the 650th episode of A State Of Trance (ASOT), the second time hitting Malaysia it was to be the pinnacle of EDM and Progressive House festival of the year.

Unfortunately enough the event was mid-week and the weather conditions weren’t kind. Haze was thick and the air was barely breathable – especially on the first day. That didn’t didn’t dampen the crowd of thousands lining up to enter the venue. Traffic flow was fast moving, thanks to the pre-allocated electronic tag system, not making lining up a more arduous process.

Headlining the first day event was the world renowned Deadmau5, gracing the crowd with tunes from his latest EP. Being an act only for those who has a 3-day pass it was definitely a show not to be missed. The light show during ‘Strobe’ took visuals to an amazing high, evidently pleasing the masses. The setting was perfect, all around you everything fits like a glove to FMFA’s slogan “Rumble in the jungle”.

Aarmin Van Buuren took the lead on the second day, landing again with the ASOT 650, a bigger ASOT than it was last year with an A-list trance DJ lineup to match. As the event started and more ravers pass through the security entrance of The Bukit Jalil Stadium and flooded the event floor, techy beats from MaRLo greeted the nights’ event. Taking a minute to appreciate the ambiance around – with the ferris wheel and hot air balloons rotating around, fun games and promotional stalls to get free things from – the venue didn’t lack anything you needed to fill in your time before the banger headline acts come on.

Water, food and other facilities were more than sufficient for the thousands of ravers’. Due to heavily marked up prices and premier product placements food and water, refreshments were heavy on the wallet. Nonetheless, a complete array of scrumptious food lined up by local vendors made it worth the buck.

As the sun set and night dwellers pop up like mushrooms, the range of people that could be seen is nothing short of entertaining. From Donations can be made to the rate my school of your choice; your child's teacher(s); to a Grade-level team; to a Department; a Special Program or for distribution to those in greatest need. guys in banana suits to people getting “higher” than the hot air balloon – everything was in check to complete the festival experience. Aarmin Van Buuren took the night away with his impeccable show with his cheeky stage presence, unmatched technical skills and a solid set of trance music. Going well at the pinnacle of the night, after other notable DJ sets from Markus Schultz and Omnia revving up the crowd, the “king of trance” took the crowd away, matching his charisma with the undying energy of trance lovers from all around. His mixes were tight, no faltering or buffer between tracks – the whole set was smooth as butter. Highlighting the night would be the minute of silence led by the renowned DJ to think of passengers on flight MH370. Hearts lifted up and signs were passed around commemorating the still missing passengers for their wellness – truly a touching moment.

As epic as the night was, casualties did occur. Due to irresponsible and inexperienced ravers, day 3 of FMFA was put to a stop. Several deaths took place – taking the matters to higher authorities. Disputes were running wild while attendees became rowdy waiting for the final confirmation of the events cancellation, anxiously waiting over by the entrance barricaded by armored police. After much deliberation and confirmation of the events cancellation sunk in, it became nationwide news instantaneously. Despite the cut short event, we still can’t forget the work of thousands of people who made Future Music Festival Asia happen, disregarding the mistakes of those responsible for the cancellation.
