We The Fest 2016 Invites Youth to Create through Art Competition

Summer festival WE THE FEST creates a platform for you people to showcase their talents I’m art through a series of interesting art competition.

For the first time, We The Fest holds a band searching competition titled ‘Submit Your Band’ which has announced its top ten bands chosen from hundreds of applicants from all over Indonesia. The top ten bands are Arc Yellow, Bedchamber, Beeswax, Circarama, Gizpel, Hello Benji and the Cobra, Littlelute, Pijar, The Boris Suit, dan West Jamnation.

The ten bands will compete on the ‘Submit Your Band Showdown’ stage on 26 July and 2 August 2016 at 365 Eco Bar, Kemang. The top three from the competition will perform at one of the stage at We The Fest 2016 on 13 & 14 August 2016.

Besides band competition, We The Fest 2016 also holds a #WTF16PosterContest competition where the contestants have to explore their creativity to create their own version of We The Fest 2016 poster. The winners will receive 2 VIB tickets and Rp 1.000.000 H&M voucher. 10 best posters will be chosen and presented at the venue on the day of the festival. We The Fest 2016 also announced an acoustic stage in collaboration with music label Demajors Records which will be the stage where Indonesian musicians will perform.

Previously, We The Fest 2016 has announced Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mark Ronson, and The 1975 as the headliner of the festival presented by Ismaya Live.

International musicians that will perform at #WTF16 are Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mark Ronson, The 1975, Alina Baraz, Blonde, Breakbot, CL, Dream Koala, George Maple, Hayden James, Hermitude, Purity Ring, Ryan Hemsworth, Sam Feldt, Ta-Ku, dan The Temper Trap.

Indonesian musicians that will jazz up #WTF16 are Abenk Alter, Adhitia Sofyan, Barasuara, Dekat, Deredia, Dried Cassava, FourTwnty, HMGNC, Indische Party, Kelompok Penerbang Roket, Kimokal, Lightcraft, Matter Halo, Monkey to Millionaire, Naif, Polka Wars, Rich Chigga, Sajama Cut, Sheila On 7, Sommerhear, dan Trees & Wild.

They will all be performing at the third edition of We The Fest that will be held on 13 & 14 August at Parkir Timur Senayan, Jakarta, Indonesia. There will still be names to be announce as performers within the next 3 weeks.

#WTF16 provides two kinds of 2-day Passes : General Admission and Very Important Banana (VIB). Until now, Early Entry 1, Presale 1, and Presale 2 has been sold out.

General Admission ticket is at Presale 3 tier for Rp 900,000.00 and Early Entry 2 tier (arrived at the venue before 3 pm) for Rp 800,000.00. Daily #WTF16 tickets starts from Rp 520.000 for GA Early Entry and Preslae 1. While VIB ticket is Rp 1,800,000.00 complete with exclusive facilities such as special VIB entrance line, access to VIB Viewing Area in front of the stages, VIB Lounge, exclusive VIB bar, and exclusive VIB toilet. This summer most anticipated festival, We The Fest 2016, has announced new acts, both international and local, that will complete the whole lineup. The two international musicians joining the lineup for We The Fest 2016 are a singer and rapper from South Korea, CL who is one of the member of the girl band 2NE1, and the duo DJ from England, Blonde.

Indonesian musicians announced as the lineup at the third phase are Abenk Alter, Adhitia Sofyan, Deredia, FourTwnty, Indische Party, Kelompok Penerbang Roket, Lightcraft, Monkey to Millionaire, Polka Wars, Rich Chigga, Sheila On 7, and Sommerhaar. We The Fest 2016 also announced an acoustic stage in collaboration with music label Demajors Records called Artplugged Stage that will be the place for some of the local acts perform.

There are few things people do at January 26th this year, for people around East Asia they went for St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, but for Australian, not only the day they celebrate their Australia day but also the time for Hottest 100 day!

What’s about this Hottest 100? This is an annual music poll conducted by one of the biggest radio station in Australia, Triple J, in which to determine their favourite song of the year by votes two weeks prior to Australia Day and will be played on the weekend of the big day. The radio itself has recently released their compilation double – CD featuring selection of songs from the countdown. From Joy Division to Nirvana, Powderfinger to Foo Fighters, The Cure to Crystal Castles, there are lots of good music and bands being chosen on the list, which proved that Ozzie have some taste in music, and believe me, if it counted inside the list, it must’ve been a good music to listened to.

So, this year we took part at this annual vote, lots of bands we wanted to win, but nevertheless with the result Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have lived up to everyone’s expectations as this super independent hip hop crowned on the top of the list, with their hit Thrift Shop.

It wasn’t surprising when we knew that Number 2 on the list was six-pieces Keflavik’s band Of Monsters and Men, with Little Talks, their single which taken from their debut studio album, My Head Is an Animal. As we saw them yesterday at Laneway, we couldn’t doubt more that they deserve that position.

Followed on the third place, was this Cambridge young indie rock quartet form ∆ (alt-J) with their Breezeblocks which taken from their debut album, An Awesome Wave. With the catchy, eclectic sound no wonder, beside receiving gold in the UK, they also won UK Mercury Prize this year.

And the list goes on to Flume with Holdin On, Mumford & Sons with I Will Wait, Major Lazer feat. Amber Coffman with Get Free, Tame Impala with Elephant, Frank Ocean with Lost, and another Tame Impala‘s song Feels Like We Only Go Backwards, and The Rubens with My Gun.
