It was a breezy Sunday afternoon at Taman Suropati, Menteng. The sounds of violin and brass band filled the air, coming from several small groups of orchestra practicing. And then there were faint guitar melodies of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star somewhere around the park. Oh hey look, it’s Iga Massardi! Iga Massardi, the tallest-cutest-looking-guitarist from The Trees and The Wild once tweeted his intention to make a program called Kelas Gitar Gratis. Positive responses flooded his mention page, then he managed to realise KGG on Sunday from 3pm to 5pm at Taman Suropati.

The purpose of this class is to teach the very basic how-to-play guitar in a fun, relaxed way. So far Iga could only handle 4o participants due to the limited number of tutors. These 40 participants were the quickest to register after Iga had posted the news about KGG. With 3 other tutors (Adoy, Bondan, and Andra), Iga divided them into two classes, and each classes were divided into three/ four groups of 5 people.

Time flies when you’re having fun. An hour passed, Iga called everyone to make a big circle and perform Twinkle Twinkle Little Star together. “Now at least you all know one song to play with guitar, right?” said Adoy. The first class ended around 4.30pm and they’re getting prepared for the second batch.

I asked Iga if there will be another KGG, he said, “Sure, probably next week. But we’re still figuring out how it’s gonna work for today’s and next participants. I will post the info once we’re settled.” Then on Wednesday this week, i saw his tweet about it. KGG will be held on Sunday August 14th, the registration is open until Saturday.
