We know that you (including us) all rarely pray, but at least once in a year, you should thank god for a couple of things. Anyways, since we had too much during We The Fest 2017, we would like to thank god for….

1. For Becoming a Rainless 3-Day Festival

People might have doubted it when they heard that this year’s We The Fest will be held for three days. But against all odds, the team managed to deliver! Three days of great lineup, great fun, and most importantly great weather.

2. For Throwing Back The Life of Highschool

Who agrees that the last We The Fest reminded you to the time when you were still in highschool? Because, O LORD, there were a lot of teenagers (probably under 17s) who also jumped in at the festival and we suddenly felt like being taken to their pre-prom night party. Much love.

3. For Giving Us Instagram Stock Photos

What else in this life that matters the most than having shizload of instagenic photos? Kudos to We The Fest for the eye candy installments which make our photo props look artsy and make us look like a badass music fan. Finally a photo that can garner hundred of likes! 4. For The Opportunity to Wear Edgy Outfit

Did anyone REALLY shop for We The Fest? Because we did! We wore our super unique outfit like we just came out of indian tribe. We also love how most of the crowd were so stylish, even some wore heels, please let us know if your ankle survived.

5. For Moving to JIExpo

Not that we didn’t enjoy last year’s venue, but this year’s location was perfect! JIExpo was big enough to accommodate the large WTF crowd. Being at JIExpo allowed WTF to create much bigger stages for all performers. We’re also thankful for This Stage is Banana indoor stage. What a great way to cool off.

6. For Creating a Musical Melting Pot of a Festival We All Deserve

Music festivals are rarely cater to everyone’s like and need, then come We The Fest. But there’s something about this year’s line up that was extra rich. This year no one gets left behind. Bands like The Adams, Rumah Sakit, and LANY satisfied the rock n roll bros. Performers like Yuna, Daya, and Teddy Adhitya made the RnB seeker dance the heart away. For the always sappy soul, Raisa and Danilla were there to heal their broken hearts. Cash Cash, Epik High, and Ramengvrl for everyone with too many swagger in their system. Lastly DJs like Snakehips and Jonas Blue for the hardcore ravers, who couldn’t wait for DWP this December. 7. For The Super Comfortable VIP Arena We don’t know whether you will be thankful for this- BUT WE WOULD! The VIP Arena was just so splendid and we couldn’t think what on earth would happen to us and some celebgrams if this arena weren’t there to save our lives. 8. For Inviting Our Local Heroes

Sure, the international names were great. But you know who we were looking forward to seeing? Our local heroes! The local bands and performers were top notch this year. They got every genres covered. Our favorite would be Ramengvrl who’s swagger control the whole This Stage is Banana area. Watch out, this one is going places! Our other favorite? Potret. Melly Goeslaw sang songs from our teenage day and we couldn’t be more thankful for it. Singing ‘Salah’ and ‘Bagaikan Langit’ with your mates while dancing freely was the flash back we all hoped for!

9. For a Peek Under G-Eazy’s Shirt

Well to be honest, a peek is an understatement. A few songs in, the WTF heat finally got to Gerald and the shirt if off! Boy, did the ladies went wild. As if his live performance of “Mean It” and “Good Live” weren’t hot enough, he did the rest of his set shirtless. Well, shirtless or not, his set was ground breaking. 10. For Dua Lipa for Teaching Us Her New Rules that Blew Our Mind

One of the most anticipated performer this year was the British gal, Dua Lipa. Her set was upbeat and engaging. Dua especially turned the heat up during her new song “New Rules”. The song about how to get over a breakup seemed to be a popular one amongst the crowd. Well it’s no surprise, the chorus were so catchy and the beats after “I got new rules, I count them…” just made you want to dance. The performance blew our mind.

11. For a Dry, Rainless Phoenix Set

After their incomplete set at Love Garage back in 2014, people were looking forward for the return of this France quartet. This time, everything was the opposite of Love Garage. The band headlined the second day of the festival sans rain, sans technical difficulties, complete encore, and lots of happy and dry, dancing crowds. 12. For the Craziest Rave Party by Charli XCX When we heard Charli XCX will be performing at this year’s WTF we expected a party, but she gave way beyond that. Once we saw the crew installing two “car commercial” inflatable waving men, we knew we were infer a treat! It was just her and two gals, well and those waving men, but it felt more. The swagger that Charli had on that stage made up of the lack of band. For her first time in the country she had made a great and raving impression. 13. The President’s stamp of approval

It seemed that we’re not the only ones who’s thankful for WTF17. The number one person in the country aka The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo was there to show his appreciation towards the festival. The camera was on him in the middle of Charli’s ‘Fancy’ number. Between, Charli’s rapping Iggi Azalea’s verse and the sight of the President on the big screen, people were confused who they were cheering for.

Well all in all, WTF17 had been proof that We The Fest is one of the greatest, if not the greatest festival in the country. From expanding to three days to getting the President’s stamp of approval, WTF17 has done the impossible. See you next year!

Before kicking in with Blur, Tegan & Sara, The Temper Trap and Van She at Big Sound Festival, let’s have some preheat session with great names like the Kooks, Delphic and the Radio Dept. The pre-event was held on April 24th 2013 at Tennis Indoor Senayan. Unlike most of the festivals, the situation and the ambience at the venue was not as sounding as how a festival would go. We could see some clear space at the entrance gate and the most rare thing, the signal coverage was pretty clear, it seemed people were not coming early to catch all the line-ups.

Payung Teduh, the local act who were chosen to be the starter for the international bands, were up on stage at 6.33PM. Heated on the crowd with their sweet melodic and of course, shady tempo. The atmosphere was pretty calm and very comforting when they performed their swinging set, even more the festival was filled by fifty people only at that time, which made Payung Teduh’s show became very intimate.

The local listeners had been soothed by the local act, it’s now the Radio Dept.’s turn. That night was the third time for them to be in Indonesia and their second time for Jakarta. The swedish’s pals transferred their traditional indie and dream-pop sounds through an electronic haze. The band performed the dreamy shoe-gazy to the crowd (with their shy yet solid acts). The songs blended together evethough there were some technical difficulties in the middle of their performance.

If you were at their show in Jakarta in 2011, last night was actually your perfect time (and maybe the band’s time) to pay some redemption after the lame experience of seeing them live (as if you remembered the event was poorly organized). All in all, the shoegaze listener would give them an “A” for last night.

From shoegaze to alternative dance! Delphic, the second international band highlited the crowd into some dancing scene. The band who released their second album, Collections, in January, seriously had some business to do in mixing all the crowd to stomp their feet and bust the moves. They also performed their mixing skills by playing some remixed intros over the songs. If you are not familiar of them, we are that you could easily get along (or even tap your foot) with the beats as the drummer , Dan Hadley, dropped some hook over and over again. Songs like “Doubt”, “Counterpoint”, and “Halcyion” were performed flawlessly. And yes ,they performed the energy which most of the bands on their genre would pretty much end up in showing just an “OK” show.

Here comes the king of the show, The Kooks! After experiencing a long wait and as we saw some people started yawning for getting a real sleepy for waiting them, the Kooks finally arrived on stage. Luke Pritchard cs’ appearance invited the big cheer from the crowd. The crowd erupted into screams as lead singer/guitarist Luke Prichard who showed up wearing a lurik clothes ( Indonesia’s traditional costume), jumped onto a higher stage, shaking his hips in Mick Jagger-like fashion.

They picked “Ooh La” from their debut album, Inside In Inside Out, as the first song. Luke totally performed a good communicative skills to the crowd and his pampered dance. For song “Seaside”, he did an acoustic solo and followed by a crowd’s choir to the song, it was a pretty smooth move. Hugh Harris’s vocal also strongly shone and balanced the performance. The singing along’s session still much happening for the rest of the songs, especially for “How’d Ya Like That”, “Sway”, “Shine On”, and “Do You Wanna”. After performing “Do You Wanna”, the encore’s typical shout out was cheered massively, the crowd seemed still hungry since the band had not performed their hit songs from their previous albums. After shouting for a couple of times, the band returned to the stage again then played the riff of “Junk Of the Heart”. The crowd went into a jiggling-machine and bobbing their heads to the song. Without having a time to catch a breathe, the band played their hit-maker song, “Naïve”, which was the icing of the show. The Kooks totally nailed the night and they surely knew how to make it “big” for “Road To Big Sound Festival”. Despite the fact of the not so crowded, Road To Big Sound Festival has given us something what the young listeners have been waiting for a long time. And remember, this is not over yet, since Big Sound Festival will be up in May 15th with the Temper Trap, Van She, Tegan & Sara and the legendary, Blur, to mark the history in your 2013’s concert list! See you ate Big Sound Festival 2013!

Dyandra Entertainment seem on their highest performance this year! After announcing that they’ll be promoting Blur, The Temper Trap and Tegan & Sara (and still one more name to be announced), the promoter released a news that The Kooks, Delphic, and Radio Dept. will be sharing a stage for a pre-event of Big Sound Festival 2013. The official announcement was tweeted on the promoter’s official twitter account, @DyandraEnt, on February 21st 2013.

Big Sound Festival seems going to be one of the most anticipated music festivals in South-East Asia, since the show will be headlined by Blur, the legendary band from England. Furthermore, the excitement for the festival which will be held on May 15th 2013 is going to be heated up first on April 24th 2013 by The Kooks, Delphic, and Radio Dept.

The Kooks are an English rock band formed in 2004. They have released three albums, Inside In/Inside Out (2006), Konk (2008), and Junk of The Heart (2012). The Kooks stealed the attention from the media once their first album exploded. The band consist of Luke Pritchard, Hugh Harris, Peter Denton, and Paul Garred.

Delphic are definitely a familiar name if You’re a fan of shoegazing and electronic rock music. Their name started rocketing when they did their national tv debut on “Later … With Jools Holland” in 2009. In January 2013, They just released their second album titled “Collections“.

The Radio Dept are totally not from England, the band were named after a gas-station-turned-radio-repair-shop called “Radioavdelningen” (Swedish for The Radio Department). Their first album, “Lesser Matters“, was ranked no.9 for NME’s list of the best 50 albums in 2004.

Dyandra Entertainment and Sound Rhythm have been calling this All-in-one event as the Road to Big Sound Fest, and the event will be held at Tennis Indoor Senayan. If You are an avid fan of those names above, the ticket can be purchased via online on February 27th 2013.

Dojihatori is an Indonesian indie britpop band from Yogyakarta. After won the LA Light indie festival and released two albums, Dojihatori seems to set a great start, and should be heading toward their next successful album. But after two years, there’s no news on their upcoming new album. Why is that?I myself managed to interview Dojihatori’s guitarist and frontman, Windho. So let’s hear about the band’s hiatus and their plan to release a new album soon.Tell us about Dojihatori’s hiatus? And when you guys are planning to make a comeback?
Well Dojihatori is indeed on a break, we’re relaxing to be exact. It’s different back then when was in college, we used to be a “hard-working” band. It’s a different era, so we’re kind of have different goals. We used to make new materials and keep practicing, and we often perform on stage, even though there were just one or two people that come to our show. As a new band, we want to achieve many things at that time, wrote songs, played it on stage, released an album, and performed at any events and shows. We’ve been through that phase since 2000, and many things have changed since then. Our band members are now busy with work. And of course the distance, we don’t stay at the same city like we used to. So this is what we called “relaxing”, even though we still try to be productive. Several person of our band member is now married and has a family, so we must settle a priority and, in this matter, Dojihatori has to step down.

Do you guys have any plan to release a new album?
We planned to release a new album sometime in last year, but we have to pending the production process because of the marriage of our vocalist, so it’s kind of affecting the recording process. So our new plan is to finish the recording this year and release the new album next year.

Is there any difference between the new upcoming album and the last two albums?
On our previous albums, most of the songs were written by me and Rinto (our bassist), and Rinto took a bigger role on dealing with our song lyrics. But, on our new album, Yuma (our vocalist) and Feri (our drummer) are keen to put some of their ideas to the songs, so it will be different in term of the album’s taste and sound of the songs. On our previous albums, we put lots of distortion to the sound of our guitar. But on our new album, we try to sound more “vintage”. We try to explore different path but we still want to keep our “old” taste from the previous albums.

In your opinion, what’s the best album of 2011 so far?
I’m afraid we have to pass this question, we’re still busy listening to The Beatles, hahaha.

Is there any peculiar band that you guys wanna share a stage with?
The Who, The Jam, Stone Roses, The Kooks, we think they’re talented.

(Natalia)
