3. Festival survival tips

We have given you some tips how to survive your first gigs, but do you know how to survive in a music festival, especially if this is your first time? Here some tips you may reconsider to follow:

Expect the unexpected. You never know what will happened tomorrow, is it going to be muddy or is it going to be super hot? but we know its outdoor and it’s rainy and quite muddy last year, so its better if you bring a light raincoat.

Be as comfortable as possible. You’re not going to a fashion week, well.. you may want to look nice and catchy but make sure its comfortable enough in any condition. You don’t wanna watch your favourite band in misery right?

NO umbrellas. Well we wrote to prepare for any weather but exception for this umbrella, as this blocks the view of the stage so its better to come with ponchos, as far more considerate and party going anyway right?

Bring Cash. You might want to buy food or merchandise from the festival, but since there are no ATM’s close by, is better to bring your own cash but remember to keep it save.

Learn about the venue. Make sure you know how to get there, you don’t want to missed your band because you were lost. Learn what’s inside the venue, do they have ATM? food stool? Clinic? How about the transportation? Do you know the procedure there? Have fun. Last but not the least, try to have fun. dont bring your burden and missery to the festival, cause the festival is only about fun and partying!

We believe everyone from the old ages to the newbie hipster already plan what and which concert they have to attend this year since lots of bands seems favouring to go around asia. And speaking of age, we saw quite a lot of young faces at the venue and probably that was their first concert they’ve attended. So, we want to give some tips for the newbie about how to survive your first concert.

1. Every man for himself.. but don’t get angry if you’re not man enough.
Everyone wants to get their best spot, and no wonder most of the audience run as fast as they can like seeing ghost just to get up front (which sometimes looked weird when actually the venue still empty and there’s not much people follow you). Keep in mind if you are up front, you will get pushed around but don’t be upset and be pushover when it happened, cause everyman for himself. Thats why its better if you go to the bathroom or any other place beforehand, you cant reclaim your spot unless you have friend with you to keep it for you.

2. You’re watching concert not going to a mall.
Be as comfortable as possible, people going to a concert to see their favourite band not favourite audience, and you will get push and sweaty so rather than use 20inches high heels try to use sneakers or flat shoes and please it’s not like the rain going to enter the indoor venue, just leave your big motorbike jacket. And whats important is most of concert venue doesn’t have locker to keep your belongings, and they certainly wont have lost & found boxes. So bring nothing except your wallet with your ID and phone.

3. Be aware, stay sober
Yes you’re there to have fun and be as crazy as possible, but you don’t have to get drunk to get the fun and crazy part. You don’t want to be the person that got kicked out because you throw up or get punched because of your craziness or even the person who cried later because you just lost your belongings somehow. And please if you want to be crazy just try not to hurt other people by punching or hit them with your elbow. And its cool to apologise if you do so.

4. Don’t be that jerk person
We know you are exciting but try not to annoy other people or your friend by talking to much, complaining, or making phone calls. People around you want to enjoy the concert not your talking. And don’t be the jerk who go to the show just so you can tell your friend you went there by tweeting and texting at the front row, while other die hard fans barely hard to jump and go closely to their fav band because avoiding you get hurt or your phone dropped.

5. Enjoy the show
Well the most and we believe all of you already knew, is have fun and enjoy the show! You wont have any chance to sing as loud as possible at home or public area, so here’s the place to do so. Don’t be shy, go dancing like crazy and if you’re lucky maybe the band see you and ask you to do the dance on stage!

Apparently with some couple years we’ve been through finally our beloved country gain more respect and trust for the International artist to come and have show here. With more than 20 big names already lining up to have show until June this year not only in Jakarta but other places around Indonesia. But are we ready yet to welcoming them? or if i can say, are our pocket ready to be spent for experiencing live performances from our fav artist this year? Here are some tips which probably could help you (and your piggy bank) to survive from the sudden gig attack.

1. Everyone knows why they created a piggy bank

Since we’re kids, our parents, teachers, and even child singers taught us to save some of our money. Make a list of which concert you want to go, how much the ticket price and make some target how much you want to save from your pocket, if you want to gain more and fast, you have to cut more from other budget. Maybe instead of eating at socialite fine dinning which cost you Rp.100k per plate, you can go to warung which cost you only Rp.10k per plate! Boooyyaa.. you just save Rp.90k!! Where to save your money after? It doesn’t have to be in the bank, you can save it on your piggy bank or even under your pillow. The point is you have to keep it away from your everyday wallet. And remember the more you save, the more money you’ll have, not only for buying one ticket maybe you can buy all tickets and even give one for us.

2. First thing first

If you weren’t in the group of people who ate at fine dinning places and you’ve already did our no.1 step by saving a lot from here and there budget and still doesn’t have enough to buy all concert tickets, so don’t be greedy! First thing first, you must have the list of bands you should see before you die right? which one is your priority? If you’re too much for pop band and you have seen Westlife or Backstreet Boys before, maybe you should try something new like saving for Anthrax concert. Who knows, while you watch the band you found some new screaming technique from the audience.

3. Every man for him self

Ok so you’re old and your parents only gave you money for your college and living cost which going to concert is not on their budget for you. You don’t know what to do, cause you cant stop eating at those fine dinning restaurant or shop every midnight. Then what should you do to get some money for the gigs? Get your lazy ass to think! do some side job and make some cash! after you get the cash do the no.1 or 2 step. don’t waste it again. enough said.

4. We all know if we’re into free cool stuff

If you still too lazy and stupid to think, don’t worry we’re still here to help you to get what you want. Who doesn’t like free stuff? i believe we all does. So if you still broke, you don’t know where else to go or to do, check all quizzes twitter timeline, band’s Facebook page, promoters website, participate on their quizzes, then pray for some miracle and rabbit’s foot.

5. Let it go

Ok, if you’ve done all those 4 steps and yet still cant see your favourite bands this year, well, just let it go. Life is too short to be wasted for catching bands that maybe doesn’t give a damn of how hard you have to give to see them. You’re still young and have many years ahead to get ‘revenge’. Study hard, get a nice job, well paid and after you’re rich, you pay them to do live performance for you. Yes, ONLY FOR YOU.
