It’s been a year! Since the world entered January 2012, we have been listening to all the new band that enter this industry. We’ve sorted from 30 new bands and made it into 12 best new bands that successfully breakthrough the season. Here is the listing!

The four piece from Edinburgh really nailed it with their debut. With a sound of tribal drums and a dip of a tropical psychedelic makes their tracks into something with what most of the indie band has lost. Many people say that Django –Django’s debut is one of the most inventive debut and gives a proof that guitars rule.

2. Savages

Here comes Women’s anticipation by cleaning up all the testosterone in the band! Savages have been known as the women version of Joy Division. Their feminity is disguised with the post-punk tunes which is very jaw dropping. Hit their track “Husbands” if you don’t believe us.

3. TOPS

Well, NME only gives TOPS an average credit for their tracks. TOPS’ best tracks like “Diamond Look” and “Double Vision” are so perfectly composed. Some music critics say that TOPS give a typical sweetery, We know it’s an impact to be fronted by a woman. But, TOPS is breaking the mould, especially the indie music scene in Montreal. They’re a hero!

4. Holograms

Digging deeply about post-punk, Holograms bring the authentic version of it. “ABC City” stole our attention, a throwback post-punk 80s thing, so much energy and authentic vocals.

5. Hundred Waters

If You accidentally found Hundred Waters’ track on the internet, that might be your first ever treasure. Their track titled “Visitor” is so rich. We even think that Phillip Glass gave a contribution on this track (it’s definitely no, but so familiar with his Symphony No.3 : Movement 4). And hello, when is the last time an indie band uses flute as of their instruments?

6. Divine Fits

Well, what did you expect from an indie supergroup? For us, the answer is a super-catchy album. Divine Fits, incase you didn’t know, are a band which is run by a former members of Wolf Parade & Spoon. Their single, “Would That Not Be Nice”, is a radio-approved catchy tunes. Be sure to check their other single such as “Like Ice Cream” and “”.

7. Cold Showers

These lads from Los Angeles do something different. Not following the stream and out of the influences that surround them. Dusted Magazine’s Doug Mosurock likened them to Gilmore Girls in a Windows 8 endorsment world.

8. Alt-J

Nicknamed “The Next Radiohead”, won 2012’s Mercury Prize Awards, and topped some of music blog’s annual album of the year list, sure 2012 was a great year for these Brits. Alt-J’s debut, “An Awesome Wave”, is a mind-blowing journey from start to the end. Be sure to hear some of their finest tunes, such as “Breezeblocks”, “Matilda”, and “Fitzpleasure”.

9. The Revival Hour

As Folk Radio UK said “The duo’s debut introduces an extraordinary fusion of panoramic and timeless sound with a thoroughly modernist and intimate feel: 60’s R&B, soul, doo-wop and pop, fused together by a panoply of electronics and Stith’s heavenly singing and vivid lyrical narratives.” We are nodding our heads on this.

10. Grimes

Charmful! That’s the first thought about them when the very first time we listened to “Genesis”. Grimes put a futuristic adn robot-esque sounds to their music. Grimes alias Claire Boucher do the Asian Madonna performance on her vocal, with small-child’s vocals, and icing with a bit of geisha. What does Grimes’s tracks and drugs have in common? Addictive.

Those names will give a new muse for the future of music industry. Fighting the stream with their own influence and path. We are so looking forward to see the new comers in 2013! (Alcander Alonzo/Faisal Nugraha)

Ps: The reason why we didn’t put the embed YouTube videos of them is We want you guys to look them up by yourselves! Let’s be adventurous
