Bet You Didn’t Know : Laneway Festival 2013′s Lineups

We all know that Laneway Festival Singapore 2013’s lineups are amazing and they are big names, they have won multiple awards and also have achieved something great in this industry, but there are some facts that you don’t know about them. Here is the fun facts about Laneway Festival SG 2013’s Lineups :

1. Britt Daniels of Divine Fits is a huge fan of Frank Ocean.
Britt was a huge fan of Frank Ocean’s first record, “Nostalgia, Ultra” and Divine Fits have covered a song from Frank Ocean’s sophomore, “Lost” once during their gig.

2. Grammy Winner and founder of Bon Iver, Justin Vernon once said in an interview to Rolling Stone that Poliça (pronounced POE-LISA) are “the best band that I’ve ever heard”. So there are no excuses for you to not liking them!

3. If you press the “Alt” and “J” button together on a mac computer, Alt-J’s alias, ∆ will appear. But they don’t want you to call their band a “Triangle” or “Delta”, so, there you have it, a keyboard shortcut.

4. Erlend Øye of Kings of Convenience were one of the spectators of last year’s Singapore leg of St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival. He’s a friend of Feist, one of last year’s main act. Well, Feist used to record a song with Kings of Convenience, and seeing her as a spectator at this year’s Laneway Festival is a huge dream for everyone!

5. Kevin Parker of Tame Impala admitted that Tame Impala are a one-man band since he took most of the responsibillity for the musical composition. And fortunately, the rest of the band don’t mind about it.

6. Bat For Lashes’ Natasha Khan got inspired by Beyonce’s video “The Best Thing You Never Had” for BFL’s cover. And Khan added that the album’s artwork had come about because she was “bored” of the media’s representation of women

7. Japandroids name came from 2 band names, “Japanese Scream” and “Pleasure Droids”. In fact, they came from Canada, not Tokyo. And they have almost disbanded before their first album, “Post-Nothing” took a good critics from some credible music media such as Pitchfork and Spin.

8. One of Laneway alumni, Yeasayer ‘s hit single, “Ambling Alp”, is a song about a boxer, Joe Louis, who defeated a defending champion and a Nazi Boxer, Max Schmeling in 1938. “Ambling Alp” was Louis’s nickname.

9. Of Monsters and Men are an Icelandic band. What’s the first thing that cross your mind when you hear the word “Iceland”? Ours was Sigur Ros, and guess what, Of Monsters and Men, the winner of Iceland’s battle of the bands, used to have a session in Sigur Ros’s studio!

10. Mastermind behind “The Most Downloaded Song in 2012”, Gotye, 2012 ARIA awards Best Female Artist, Kimbra, and the holder of NME’S 2012 Album of the Year, Tame Impala are set to perform at this year’s leg of St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival on January 26th, 2013 at The Meadow, Gardens By The Bay.
