Future Music Festival Asia is Set for a Much More Massive Venue!

Future Music Festival Asia 2014 (FMFA 2014), Southeast Asia’s largest music festival, today announced that the festival would now take place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium from 13 – 15 March this year. The event was previously scheduled to be held at MINES Wonderland.

Iqbal Ameer, Director of Livescape Asia, the co-organizers of FMFA 2014 said that the reason was due to the unexpected increase in attendees at this year’s festival.

“Due to the overwhelming response from ticket sales, we have had to make a decision to move to a venue that would be able to contain the unexpected increase in capacity. We are now expecting over 85,000 fans to throng FMFA this year across three days from the previous 75,000 targeted. It was a difficult decision to make as the people at MINES whom we have been working very closely with for months, has been nothing short of fantastic and have really been helpful to ensure we would have a successful festival. However, a lot of factors came into the equation once we were made aware that our numbers would be increasing”, he said.

“By moving to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, FMFA will still be held at a venue close to the city. The National Stadium is also an iconic monument, one that Malaysians can identify with and is a proud symbol of our nation, which is a fitting venue as all eyes will be on this country in March as we look to host over 20,000 fans from abroad this year. Moreover with the Bukit Jalil LRT station – whose operation hours will be extended on March 13 – 15 – right at the doorstep of the entrance to the festival, it would provide festival goers with the convenience of getting to and from the festival site, while at the same time reducing traffic congestion”, he added.

The festival’s 2014 edition expanded to three days this year with over 30 world renowned acts set to thrill close to 85,000 fans. Among the acts on this year’s line-up are DeadMau5, Armin Van Buuren, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Paul Van Dyk, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan, Tinie Tempah, Eric Prydz, Rudimental, Chase & Status, Knife Party and many more. The full line-up for FMFA 2014 will be announced at a press conference on January 23.
