Bet You Didn’t Know : Disclosure
Love & Other Things and The Livescape Group has teamed up to to produce the first ever DGTL LVE, a new series of experiential music and arts event which will take over Eco Park Convention, Ancol, Jakarta for one night only on May 4. And to make it an even more special night, they have invited Disclosure to headline the whole event!
Fresh from the Coachella stage, the brothers duo, Disclosure is making their way back to Jakarta playing a much larger venue than their first time in the city headlining DGTL LVE. Also, they are back with their new Grammy nominated album, ‘Caracal’ which came out in September 2015. Throughout their career, they have produced hits after hits like ‘Omen’ and ‘Magnet’ from their new album and also everyone’s favorite ‘Latch’ out of their first album, another Grammy nominated, ‘Settle’. It’s not a surprise that they become the first artist that goes in mind when talking about the EDM scene.
Before you go to DGTL LVE and experience the magic of Disclosure, you might want to know these 5 facts about the Lawrence brothers.
1. They grew up in Reigate, Surrey
You might think the next future EDM it duo would come from the dynamic London or even the wild Essex. But this brothers grew up in the quite town of Reigate, Surrey in the U.K. They both attended Reigate College where they eventually learned about music and music technology.
2. Their parents inspired them to be in the music industry
Their musical talent is not without the inspiration of their parents. Guy and Howard grew up in a very musical household. Their mother act as a session singer, touring to hotels and cruise ships and their father being in a rock band touring around Canada and The U.K. They definitely have picked up a thing or two about the music industry from their parents. That’s why they know that they wanted to make music. The older bro, Guy, started playing drum at the age of three, while Howard learned to play the bass when he was six. What a talented family!
3. They grew up listening to a bunch of music that is not dance music
Growing up they listened to an array type of music. While they have a pretty similar taste in music, they also have their own favorites. Guy is a massive J Dilla and DJ Premier, the whole American hip hop scene. While Howard listened to Classical music at school and then grew up listening to Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Jackson, and The Police. Their massive collection of music showed in the way they make their own music.
4. Collaborating in the school way
Even though they are young and live in the digital days, they still do their work traditionally. As you may know, Disclosure worked with a lot of other singers, writing and singing on their albums. On working with other artist, they both said on some interviews that they have to meet up with the person to keep the soul of the music making process in place.
5. Contribution for other artist
As if they weren’t busy enough, the lads still manage to have time to help and work on the works of other musician’s. As Disclosure the helped produce Sam Smith’s James Bond theme ‘Writing’s On the Wall’ and Mary J. Blige’s ‘Right Now’. But, both of them also have separate projects with different artist outside Disclosure. Guy, who is a massive fan of American hip – hop, produced for some hip – hop artist. Howard helped co-writing Sam Smith ’s ‘Make It To Me’.
